Simple Steps to a New You! Part 1

Hey Everyone!

Hope everyone is great and has had a great start to the New Year, I’ve had a lovely first month so far with no complaints! So, I get a lot of messages from women of all ages asking just how I stay fit and what my secret is, so instead of individually writing everyone back, I thought just writing a blog would be a good start to answering a few questions. First and Foremost I want to say that I am not a nutritionist nor have I taken any dietary classes. This is what I have learned from a personal trainer, from being in the hospital (that’s another story, for another time) and from reading endless health journals and books! So with that said, I guarantee that there will be some things in here you disagree with however, they have been things that have worked for me and I’ve read and I, myself believe.

Also, I’d like to say, I got a rude message posted about my grammar and how I speak. This is a blog “Mr.Jerk Face”, I only skim over and check my spelling, I am not handing this in for my Final in my Uni Comp class so if you don’t like how I speak or how I’m silly sometimes then please don’t frequent my website. Find something better to do with your time than look at my “Silly writing style”! This is just a fun and hopefully helpful blog! :) OK OK, So, first things first. I am just going to give you a few basic rules or things that I do and have helped me shed pounds when needed. This will be scattered and maybe a bit repetitive as my brain is always scattered! ha ha! SO if you think because you are drinking diet soda you are doing yourself a favor then sorry to say but you are very mistaken, it doesn’t matter diet or regular! Just DON’T drink soda! It’s horrible for you and so full of sugar and other crap! DRINK WATER! LOTS OF WATER! I REPEAT! DRINK WATER! Water is so important for so many reasons, it helps your bowels, helps keep your skin nice by keeping it hydrated, it flushes germs and potential illnesses out and it just does a body good! :) Drink as much water as you can a day, YES! You will pee loads, trust me, but the clearer your pee the healthier! ;) Yes, I just said that! ha!

Next, DON’T eat fast food! Do I really need to say why? Really? I’m sure I don’t…..There are 100 reasons and I frankly, I don’t have the time to write them. I know, I know, it’s an easy way to grab some grub but it’s like eating fake food. It’s so full of artificial ingredients and preservatives! It’s just Sick! I used to eat it when I was younger and now you won’t see my touch any kind of fast food! Just say NO! It’s esp hard after a night out of drinking as your decision making skills are a little impaired. Just don’t do it! Now, speaking of alcohol, I promise you, you will NEVER achieve the body you really want if you are going out 4 nights a week. I’m sorry but it just won’t happen! No matter what alcohol you drink, it is EMPTY calories, it’s going nowhere, It’s storing to fat AND all that food you eat after a night out? That’s being stored straight to fat as well! So while you are drinking a vodka and water, yes you are saving more calories than if you are drinking wine or champagne but you are still consuming about 110 calories per shot and let’s be honest, most people over pour drinks, So Like me, I drink Vodka and flat water, Grey Goose to be exact so there is about 110 per shot. I drink doubles, so that’s 220 calories for one drink. Now I drink I’d say 5 or 6 a night, you do the math….in one night out I’m consuming roughly 1320 calories by having 6 drinks, this doesn’t include any shots I take or the food I happen to crave after. A healthy intake of calories is about 2,500 calories a day so you’re drinking half of your caloric intake just drinking booze. Now think if you drank 6 or 7 wines, think of the carbs and sugar in that? You’ll be even worse off! Plus alcohol and sugar dehydrates you so you will appear puffy and bloated and your skin may break out due to the dehydration of it but that’s yet, another blog.

Have you ever looked at a photo of someone skinny but noticed their face looked really round or puffy? This is a prime example of me, I’m 45 kilos but after a few nights out in a row I have a face of a pumpkin, lol. OR even 1 or 2 nights out if I’m drinking Champers as that really bloats you from all the sugars and carbonation. So If you are really trying to get fit I would limit the nights out as much as you can, Yes this is one of the hardest ones, (I gained 15 lbs in College, I was never big, but I was def. bigger than now all from drinking beer 6 nights a week and eating crap) (I used to eat KFC, YES that was very hard for me to just admit) haha. Another thing that has helped me long run with staying slim is not eating red meat! Now, when I lived in Iowa I ate it and I was pretty slim the whole time but I hadn’t hit 20 yet and around 21 your hormones change and you may experience a little weight gain, (not everyone, but some) Anyway, back to the red meat, So I have not eaten red meat for almost 4 years now and I love it! I feel great and I remain small and NOT bloated. (plus red meat makes you so fatigued) (Go 2 months without it and just feel the difference!!!!) TRY IT! ;) You won’t be bloated either.

Red Meat is very hard to digest and in some people who have problems going number 2, red meat can stay in your system for almost 3 weeks before it is then finally passed through. So if you can shake the red meat, not just to shed the pounds but because eating a lot of animal protein isn’t good for your body!! I believe this 1000 percent and I don’t care what anyone says, I’ve done the research! I tried to be Vegan for a while but that was just so hard for me as I eat so much cereal that I couldn’t always have almond milk! BUT again, dairy isn’t the best for you and most people actually have a dairy allergy they just don’t know it or it’s a very small allergy and just causes headaches or bloating. Most people think if you are allergic to something and you eat it you will die, this is normally not the case unless you have a nut allergy and then yes my friend, you should indeed stay far away from any nuts. Some allergies just cause skin to break out, fatigue, bloating, or headaches, or an upset stomach, So notice the food you are putting into your body and really think about how it makes you feel. If you get a tummy ache after think of what you ate earlier that day? You could be having a mild reaction to something in the food.

Next, FILL YOUR DIET WITH VEGGIES! Veggies are great for you and very high in fiber! Also fruit as you know is amazing but full of sugar, natural sugar yes, so it’s easy to digest and good but it’s still sugar so I don’t recommend having any fruit after about 4pm. NOW ON TO THE BIGGEST MYTH EVER!!!! “CARBS WILL MAKE YOU FAT!” WRONG ANSWER!!!!!!!!!!! Those of you who have lost weight and KEPT it off by going on a no carb diet…..Well I’d love for you to write me and tell me your story because I will say it’s BS! Carbs are an ESSENTIAL part of your diet! You NEED them to function, they give you energy! There are two kinds of carbs, simple and complex, you should have both in your diet but simple is more ideal as it has less sugars normally. If you are eating carbs with protein you are fine. I eat carbs all the time, Hell, most of my diet IS carbs, since the only protein I eat is mostly fish but occasional chicken. A healthy meal would be Chicken, Rice, and say Peas or Beans. Just one example,

Also you don’t need to give up pasta! I eat pasta probably 4 times a week so do a lot of my veggie friends and they are still small. Carbs are not your enemy. I think the best thing to do is try and eat as much food as you can with the least amount of ingredients. Raw foods are good and foods like eggs, breads, nuts, things that don’t have 37 different ingredients and things that don’t have artificial flavors! Also having lots of fiber and whole grains is amazing as eating porridge or wheaties for breckfast each day while also keep the bloating off and keep your system regular as some people carry 5 to 10 lbs on them just from not going number 2 enough and being bloated!!! Seriously! Anyway, This is getting long and I’m getting tired! Lol. I think I will have to make a part two of this or just add the fitness part in because I have to say fitness is important but you can do 500 abs a day but if you eat crap you will never get that six pack! So Again, sorry about the scatter brained blog, just wanted to get a few things out there!

Healthy eating is really very easy! Almost all people know what they need to do to lose weight they just don’t have the will power to give up the junk and fast food! Well, if you want to lose weight you gotta be smart, otherwise the pounds won’t disappear magically! Ok I’m out! I’m falling asleep! :P Over and Out! Love you all and I wish you all the best luck, If you have more Q’s or if you even wanna be rude and tell me how “crap” my blogs are or if I’m wrong on anything comment below! :) I don’t mind! :) Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!!!

XOXO KJ
